Why Ruly

Built so you can focus on selling.

You run your own schedule and your own pipeline. The agency carries the contracts, the service work and the back office.

1

Splits that grow with you

55%, 60% or 70% on new business, set by your current written premium, annualized. Every tier is published below.

2

Build something you keep

Not a raise while you’re active. When you leave or retire with 2+ years of tenure, counted from your first policy written, you earn a monthly trail of 5% to 10% for 10 years on your clients still with the agency. It passes to your next of kin or assignee, and it’s paid in full or assumed if Ruly is ever sold.

3

You sell, we service

Every policy is agency-serviced. Changes, renewals and client service stay with the agency, so your time goes to new business.

4

Real carrier access

Direct carriers including Liberty Mutual, National General, Nationwide, Foremost, Openly, GEICO, Homeowners of America and Root, plus First Connect, and our Partner Agencies for harder risks. Ruly is always expanding its markets.

5

EZLynx from day one

Your own EZLynx seat, with the first 6 months covered by the agency. After that it’s billed at the current market rate.

6

Leads, marketing & support

Editable Ruly marketing pieces, monthly carrier updates and bookable office time in the producer portal. Agency leads when available: a bonus, not a business plan.

Vested trail: your retirement boost

Build something you keep.

The trail is not a raise: while you’re with Ruly you earn your normal split; the vested trail starts when you leave or retire.

  • Starts when you leave or retire. It’s paid on your clients who are still with the agency. To receive it, submit a commission log at least quarterly (trail isn’t backpaid more than 3 months).
  • Paid monthly for 10 years. Once it starts, your trail runs for 10 years.
  • Set by your tenure when you leave. Tenure is counted from your first policy written. 5% with 2 years, 6% with 3, 7% with 4 and 10% with 5 or more. Nothing is earned before 2 years.
  • Protected. It passes to your next of kin or assignee, and it’s paid in full or assumed if Ruly is sold.

Agency leads, when available, pay the renewal rate on new business. Most producers can quote all First Connect options themselves at standard commissions. Only business placed through Partner Agencies pays a lower rate because of splits. All commissions and terms are set by the producer agreement. This page is a summary, not a guarantee of income.

Is this a fit?

Built for self-starters.

A strong fit if you…

  • Hold an active property & casualty license and want to grow a personal or commercial lines book
  • Write in the states where Ruly Insurance Brokerage is licensed: Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Texas
  • Want to run your own schedule as a 1099 independent producer
  • Would rather sell than service, and want to build something of value for retirement
  • Keep your license and CE current and carry your own $1M E&O (Ruly can write it for you)

Probably not a fit if you…

  • Need a salary or a draw. This is a commission-only 1099 role
  • Need agency leads to fill your pipeline. Leads are a bonus, not a business plan
  • Aren’t ready to keep your licenses and CE current in every state you write

FAQ

Straight answers.

Am I an employee?

No. Producers work as 1099 independent contractors, with no draw. You set your own schedule and earn commission on what you write.

How are commissions figured and paid?

Your split is based on your current written premium, annualized: 55/40 up to $250K, 60/45 from $250K to $1M, and 70/50 over $1M (new business/renewal). A new tier starts with the next policy issued after you cross a threshold.

Submit your sales log by the 10th of each month. Commissions are paid on the 15th by ACH, or by check on request.

How does the vested trail work?

The vested trail is not a raise. While you’re with Ruly you earn your normal split; the trail starts only when you leave or retire. Your rate is set by your years of tenure when you leave, counted from your first policy written: 5% with 2 years, 6% with 3, 7% with 4 and 10% with 5 or more. It’s paid monthly for 10 years on your clients who are still with the agency, and to receive it you submit a commission log at least quarterly (trail isn’t backpaid more than 3 months). Nothing is earned if you leave before 2 years.

What happens to my clients and my trail if I leave?

There’s no ban on keeping in touch with clients, but if you move clients you wrote to another agency within 12 months (or before that policy term ends, if sooner), commissions paid on them that term may be charged back, and they’re removed from your vesting. Once you have at least 2 years of tenure from your first policy written, your vested trail starts when you leave, including when you retire, and is paid on your clients who are still with the agency. To receive what you’re owed, submit a commission log at least quarterly (trail isn’t backpaid more than 3 months). Leave before 2 years and no trail is earned.

What if something happens to me, or Ruly is sold?

Your vesting passes to your next of kin or assignee. If Ruly Insurance Brokerage is sold, vested trails are paid in full or assumed by the buyer.

Do I have to service my policies?

No. All policies are agency-serviced. You sell, and the agency handles the service work.

Do you provide leads?

Sometimes. Agency leads are shared when available, but they aren’t guaranteed and shouldn’t be relied on. Think of them as a bonus, not a business plan. This is a 1099 independent producer role, so you build your own pipeline, with the Ruly marketing kit to help. Agency leads pay the renewal rate on new business.

What does it cost me?

Ruly charges no fees. The only deduction is your EZLynx seat, and the agency covers it for your first 6 months. After that it runs about $200 a month at the current market rate, shown as a line item on your commission payout. You’re responsible for maintaining your own licensing, including continuing education and renewal costs, and for carrying your own $1M E&O policy. Ruly can write your E&O for you, and you earn standard commission on it. Full terms are in the producer agreement.

Which carriers can I write?

Direct carriers include Liberty Mutual, National General, Nationwide, Foremost, Openly, GEICO, Homeowners of America and Root, and Ruly is always expanding its markets. You request access to each one through the producer portal. Most producers can also quote all First Connect options themselves at standard commissions. For harder risks, Ruly can place business for you through our Partner Agencies, with markets including Travelers, Auto-Owners and American Modern. Only business placed through Partner Agencies pays a lower rate because of splits.
